There are times in a person’s life when things happen that you cannot always understand. Moments where the atmosphere feels heavy, where your thoughts begin to race, and where fear quietly tries to enter and take root in your heart. This is exactly how the enemy works—he tries to bind people through fear, uncertainty, and confusion. Because he knows that a person who lives in fear easily begins to forget who God is. But today, the Lord wants to remind His children once again that they were not created to live in fear, but to walk in faith.
So many people silently carry fear in their hearts. They smile on the outside, but inside there is a war raging. They do not sleep peacefully. Their thoughts give them no rest. Sometimes people become afraid of things they experience, things they cannot explain, and then the enemy begins whispering lies into their minds. But God’s Word always brings truth where fear tries to rule. That is why the Lord says in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
What a comfort to know that the Lord does not watch from a distance when His children become afraid. He is near to those who call on Him, and in those moments when fear tries to overwhelm your heart, it is His hand that lifts you up again and His peace that keeps you standing.
The enemy wants people to believe that they are helpless against the attacks of darkness, but that is not what God says. Jesus Christ already won the victory at the cross. That is why He says in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
The Lord did not leave His children without protection. He gave them spiritual authority through the Name of Jesus Christ. Not so that people would walk in pride, but so that they could live with faith and confidence.
When fear tries to overwhelm you, remember that the Lord has already gone before you. Just as He said to Joshua in Joshua 1:9, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
The Lord never sends His children through difficult seasons alone. His presence goes with you through every uncertain moment, and even when your heart grows heavy or fear tries to consume you, He remains the One who protects you and gives you peace again.
The problem is that fear steals a person’s focus. It causes you to look more at the attack than at the God who is greater than the attack. But David writes in Psalm 27:1, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
When the Lord becomes your light, darkness loses its power over your heart. Because light always drives out darkness. The presence of God always brings peace where fear tries to live.
That is why a child of God should not fill their home with panic and negative words, but with prayer, worship, and the Word of the Lord. When people pray together, when they dedicate their homes to the Lord, and when they lift up the Name of Jesus, the atmosphere changes. Not because there is power in human traditions, but because the presence of God is real. As Psalm 91:4 says, “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”
What a picture of safety. The Lord protects His children the way a father protects his child.
Even when the night feels dark and your thoughts refuse to quiet down, the Lord wants His children to find rest in Him. That is why Proverbs 3:24 says, “When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.”
The Lord does not want people to be consumed by fear. He wants to give them peace. Rest. Security.
And when the enemy rises up against God’s children, they must remember what the Lord promises in Deuteronomy 28:7, “The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.”
The Lord is not powerless against the works of the enemy. He is King. He reigns, and He protects those who trust in Him.
That is why David could also say in Psalm 56:3, “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
Notice this—even people of faith sometimes experience moments of fear. But the difference is that they do not remain there. They run back to God. They choose to believe the Lord more than their feelings.
And that is why Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
The Lord has always been faithful. He has never abandoned His children. He neither sleeps nor forgets. He still watches over every heart that trusts in Him.
Maybe you are reading these words today with a heart that has grown weary from fighting. Maybe it feels as though peace is far away from you. But hear the voice of the Lord today:
Do not be afraid. I am with you. You belong to Me. No darkness will ever be greater than My light. No attack will ever be stronger than My Name.
Stay close to Me. Fill your heart with My Word. Speak life over your home and your family.
And remember—where Jesus is lifted up, fear loses its voice.
